On 2️⃣7️⃣ September, Catholics around the world honor the memory of St. Vincent de Paul, the founder of the congregation of missionaries and who can rightfully be called the Apostle of Mercy.
In his youth, dreaming of a career and position in society, of wealth, despising poverty and being ashamed of his origin, he, having reached spiritual maturity, gave to the poor not only everything he had, but also used all his strength and talents to serve Christ in his neighbors. His apostolic zeal sent missionaries beyond France to Poland, Madagascar, Algeria, Ireland and Scotland.
The spiritual sons of Vincent de Paul work in 86 countries. Including in Kazakhstan. And today we would like to talk about one of them, namely about the director of our foundation, Father Leshek Smakosh SM.
Since 2012, Father Leshek Smakosh has been conducting his missionary work in Kazakhstan. And since September 27, 2013 (10 years already!) he has been the director of our foundation.
What is its distinguishing feature? This is Christian humility, the desire to help the poor and needy. This man with Olympian patience listens to the problems of everyone who turns to him with their misfortune. And he will try to find a way out of an unfavorable situation, involving all kinds of authorities.
Over 1️⃣0️⃣ years of work as the director of the foundation, Father Leshek has proven himself to be a respectable, competent, responsible person. He and his team fulfill the main mission of the Catholic Church and the foundation in particular – to serve the poor and promote charity and justice throughout the world.
Mercy is a heavy burden. Giving a hungry person a bowl of soup isn’t everything. Rich people can do this too. The most important thing is to love, smile, serve.
